Tarangire National Park covers 2,850 square kilometers and is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. About Tarangire National Park
Tarangire is Tanzania's sixth-largest national park, covering 2,850 square kilometers. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water source in the area during the dry season.
From June to October, thousands of animals migrate from the Maasai Steppe to the Tarangire River, creating one of the most spectacular wildlife concentrations in Tanzania. This migration includes wildebeest, zebra, oryx, and massive elephant herds.
The park is also famous for its ancient baobab trees, some over 1,000 years old, which create a unique and iconic landscape that is quintessentially African.
