About Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on Earth, with ecological processes dating back over 2 million years. The park's name comes from the Maasai word "Siringet," meaning "endless plains."
The park is divided into three main areas: the southern plains, the central Seronera Valley, and the northern Lobo area. Each offers unique wildlife experiences depending on the season and the migration patterns.
The Serengeti is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its outstanding ecological processes and biodiversity. It remains one of the few places on Earth where wildlife migrations remain largely intact.
