Clothing Layers
Kilimanjaro's climate ranges from tropical at the base to arctic at the summit. You need moisture-wicking base layers, insulating mid-layers, and a waterproof outer shell.
Footwear
Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots are essential. Break them in well before your climb. Bring gaiters for the scree sections and warm socks.
Sleeping Gear
A sleeping bag rated to -15°C or lower is recommended. Many climbers also bring a sleeping bag liner for extra warmth.
Daypack Essentials
Your daypack should carry water (3-4 liters), snacks, sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses, camera, rain gear, and extra layers.
Technical Gear
Trekking poles help reduce strain on your knees. A good headlamp with extra batteries is essential for summit night.
